Almost one third (29%) of Irish banking customers are using their mobile phones to access their current accounts, against 10% in the previous year, reveals an Accenture Ireland digital banking survey.
The annual Current Account Customer Survey included 4,009 current account customers across Ireland and the UK.
According to the study, branch visits have also increased to 51%, compared to 43% in the previous year.
Internet has emerged as the most favorable banking channel for Irish banking customers, as nearly 80% are conducting their banking transactions through Internet, while only 11% customers used telephone.
Almost 74% of Irish mobile banking customers used Internet to check their recent transactions, 63% used to check their balance and 55% used to receive an alert.
Nearly one-third (36%) accessed products and services information, while 55% transfered funds between their own accounts, or 51% transfered funds to someone else’s account using their mobile phones.
