US consumers’ interest in mobile applications provided by financial institutions to manage and protect finances continues to grow. They are highly adopted and frequently used by the clients, according to an online survey conducted by TSYS.

Out of the survey’s 1,000 respondents, 50% said that they have installed a mobile app from their bank, while 70% of them said that they use the app a few times monthly or more.

The 2015 US Consumer Payment Choice Study also unveiled the declining popularity of debit as the preferred payment mode during the last two years even though it continues to be the most preferred payment type.

The survey report says that 41% of consumers prefer debit cards as the preferred payment mode compared to 43% in 2014 and 49% in 2013.

On the other hand, preference for credit card has remained steady at 35%, with 55% of respondents selecting rewards as the most attractive feature of their preferred credit card.

Email has been found to be the most preferred communication channel among consumers, with 46% of respondents citing it as their preferred channel regarding purchase transactions from banks.
