Computing giant IBM has agreed to acquire Vivant Digital, a boutique digital consultancy firm based in Australia. Financial details were not disclosed.

IBM said Vivant has a strong track record in the financial services and distribution industries. The company intends to merge Vivant into its IBM iX business.

Vivant, which was founded in 2008, was responsible for Commonwealth Bank’s “Ka-ching” app and Westpac’s “Genie” invoicing tool for small business.

Anthony Farah, founder and CEO of Vivant, will take the role of Digital Strategy and iX Leader for IBM Australia and New Zealand.

IBM iX global leader Paul Papas said: “Customer experience is a critical element as our clients develop their business strategy. IBM shares a similar design, consulting and management philosophy with Vivant, and our combined teams will raise the bar for experience-led, design driven, digital reinvention.”

Farah added: “This is an exciting direction for Vivant clients and employees.  We now have scale and greater opportunity to address the growing needs of CEOs and innovation leaders willing to disrupt the market by seeking out new business models. We see it as converging the best of big with the best of small.”
