Nationwide Building Society will not renew its sponsorship of
the England team at the end of July after a four-year contract with
the Football Association (FA).

Nationwide told RBI its £20m ($30.3m)
sponsorship of the England team had been “extremely successful”
over the past 11 seasons and has “significantly raised the profile
of the organisation”.

But the building society said the current
contract will finish at the end of the month and is unlikely to be
renewed.  It did not comment on the reasons behind the move
although it is understood that the two parties were unable to agree
a price.

It added that the decision had been made prior
to the start of the World Cup.

The decision leaves the national team looking for a new
sponsor.

Although the deal is one of the more high-profile contracts in
the UK, it is not the biggest.
