Spanish banking group BBVA has selected Wincor Nixdorf’s CINEO cash recycling systems that will allow banknotes deposited by customers to be reused for cash withdrawals.

Earlier, the ATMs featured two different slots for cash deposits and cash withdrawals, but cash from the deposits slot could not be used for withdrawals.

As part of the project, Wincor Nixdorf will install CINEO 4080 recycling machines at various branches of the bank during 2016. In addition, the software at all BBVA ATMs has also been improved.

Wincor Nixdorf said that through the new ATMs, users can see and access almost all of the products they have signed up for, not just the ones linked to that card.

Current accounts will be displayed using the alias chosen by the user, which will phase out the need to memorise IBAN numbers.

Customers can also opt to identify themselves using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology.

BBVA Spain head of digital banking and channel technology Manuel Crespo said: "Thanks to the changes made in BBVA ATMs, we are moving forward with our omnichannel strategy, making them another window to the bank, which our customers can use to work with their products, when, where and how they want."
