Spanish lender BBVA is to kick off its
sponsorship of American basketball league NBA on Christmas Day,
with a TV campaign titled “TEAM.WORKS.”.

The new commercial will air during the NBA’s
five nationally televised games on 25 December, one of the most
viewed days of games during the winter season.

Ignacio Villoch, BBVA’s manager for
communication and branding, strategy and innovation, had last month
told RBI that sports sponsorship was a key role in the bank’s
customer-centric strategy.

“We sponsor teams that reflect our values,
sports that can be played by everybody,” Villoch had told RBI.

The TV advertisement, which has two versions
ranging in length between 15 and 30 seconds, puts emphasis on
teamwork and shows an NBA team’s satisfaction and pride following a
successful game.

BBVA’s country manager for the US and
president and chief executive of BBVA Compass, the bank’s
US-franchise, Manolo Sanchez said: “Our new ad campaign provides
fans a captivating visual experience of how teamwork in the NBA
translates into success on the court. Our goal is to recreate that
success by providing our customers with a championship caliber
banking team that meets all of their financial needs.”
