Ant Financial Services Group, an affiliate of e-commerce giant Alibaba Group, has entered into partnership with Indonesian media company Emtek to jointly launch a new mobile payment platform.
The new payment solution will be initially launched on BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) app, which has a customer base of more than 63 million monthly active users in the country.
The platform will be later expanded to e-commerce, over-the-top (OTT) and online-to-offline (O2O) services, merchants and platforms to offer tailored payment solutions.
Emtek CEO Alvin Sariaatmadja said: “Ant Financial has proven know-how in delivering payment and other financial solutions to a large and growing mobile audience in China and enabling its partners globally, and we are looking forward to replicating and creating this success in Indonesia.”
Ant Financial International president Douglas Feagin said: “We look forward to working with our partner Emtek to bring a seamless payment experience and innovative financial services to Indonesian users.
