Saudi Arabia-based Al Rajhi Bank has forged a partnership with Diebold Nixdorf to develop a biometric-enabled self-service solution, enabling debit card printing through biometric authentication at self-service terminals.

Some 100 units with fingerprint readers have been provided in Al Rajhi Bank's branches through a local distribution partner, Alhamrani Universal Company.

The bank said that its clients can now use Diebold’s biometric fingerprint readers to authenticate themselves, select how their name will appear on the card, and quickly print a new debit card.

The new debit card printing service is part of a number of services available on the self-service terminal, which also includes cheque book printing, statement printing, pre-account opening and local and international remittances, among others.

Al Rajhi Bank general manager of retail banking group Saleh Alzumaie said: “We are delighted to be the first bank to introduce this unique feature in the region, which will provide our customers with a secured and individualized service in just a matter of seconds.

"Our collaboration with Diebold Nixdorf has been fruitful at turning our vision into reality with their collaborative approach to innovation."
