North America’s financial services industry saw a rise of 52.63% in cross border deal activity during June 2021, when compared with the last 12-month average, led by SoftBank Latin America Fund and Viking Global Investors’ $250m venture financing of PayClip, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

A total of 29 financial services industry cross border deals worth $977.3m were announced for the region in June 2021, against the 12-month average of 19 deals.

Of all the deal types, venture financing saw most activity in June 2021 with 13 transactions, representing a 44.8% share for the region.

In second place was M&A with 12 deals, followed by private equity deals with four transactions, respectively capturing a 41.4% and 13.8% share of the overall cross border deal activity for the month.

In terms of value of cross border deals, venture financing was the leading category in North America’s financial services industry with $810.11m, while private equity and M&A deals totalled $150m and $17.16m, respectively.

The top five financial services cross border deals accounted for 84.4% of the overall value during June 2021.

The combined value of the top five financial services cross border deals stood at $825m, against the overall value of $977.3m recorded for the month.

4) The $125m venture financing of SAPI de CV, SOFOM ENR and Red Amigo Amigo DAL by IFC Films, Kaszek Ventures, LGT Lightstone Europe, QED Investors, SoftBank Latin America Fund, Tarsadia Investments and VEF

5) L.P, Bee Partners, Canaan Partners, FTV Capital, Gaingels, Hudson Structured Capital Management, MassMutual Ventures and Tola Capital’s venture financing of Embroker for $100m.
