A recently granted patent (Publication Number: US11920753B2) discloses a light-emitting device (LED) module designed with a heatsink featuring mounting features made from the same heat conductive material. The module includes at least one LED on the heatsink's top surface and a thermally insulating material strategically placed between the mounting features and an optical component to prevent direct contact when mounted. The thermally insulating material can be a separate part from the mounting features, such as a washer made of thermally insulating plastics, or a tube fitted around the mounting features.

Furthermore, the patent also covers a vehicle headlight incorporating a similar heatsink module with LED and mounting features. The mounting features in the vehicle headlight have sharp edges and triangular-shaped cross-sections, with contact faces featuring protrusions. Additionally, the mounting features include through holes large enough to prevent contact between the heatsink and a reflector pin, ensuring proper spacing when the reflector pin penetrates the through hole. These innovative design elements aim to enhance the efficiency and performance of LED modules and vehicle headlights by improving thermal management and preventing potential damage or interference between components.
