Italian Banca Popolare dell’ Emilia Romagna (BPER) has chosen ABBYY FineReader OCR technology for its documents digital conversion needs.
The Optical character recognition (OCR) is a technology that enables users to convert different types of documents, such as scanned paper documents, PDF files or images captured by a digital camera into editable and searchable data, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PDF and OpenOffice Writer.
Bodo Wagener, vice president of sales and services at ABBYY, said: "Our optical character recognition software is an important tool for businesses that wish to create an efficient working environment.
"FineReader offers users a convenient way of digitising paper documents and working with the content – editing and quoting text, copying and reusing data, and adapting them for searchable archives."
ABBYY FineReader supports 190 languages and can re-create large and complex documents.
"Manually retyping the content from these documents proved time-consuming but ABBYY FineReader helps us get the job done quickly and accurately. The processing of internal documents in various formats (Tif, Jpeg, PDF, etc.) has been improved greatly," said a BPER Bank spokesperson.
