9M11 profits rise by 12.9% at SBI

State Bank of India (SBI) has posted a net profit of INR82.4bn ($1.81bn) for the nine month period to 31 December, up 12.9% from the corresponding period a year ago Third quarter net income increased by 14.1% year-on-year to INR28.3bn, following a growth in demand for credit and a rise in fee income.

Santander inks Diebold ATM deal

Deployment of the ATMs, all of which will use Diebold’s Agilis software, will be completed in the first half of 2011. According to Diebold, the ATMs will help Santander to offer a level of service closer to the branch experience, with added services such as deposit automation, advertising and other advanced banking transactions.

Poland’s Bank Millennium rolls out iPhone app

Polish lender Bank Millennium has rolled out a mobile banking service with an app for Apples iPhone. Bank Millennium will extend the service later this year with an app for Android-platform smartphones. The service enables Bank Millennium customers to check their account balance and transaction history; make internal and domestic transfers, repay credit card debt and top-up mobile phone balances.

Banco Best releases eBudget app

Banco Best, the direct banking subsidiary of Portugals Banco Espirito Santo, has launched an app for Apples iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad devices, dubbed eBudget. The app enables users to store, organise and manage daily expenses via their mobile device including graphic analysis, expenditure location on Google Maps, and the option to attach an image to each item of expenditure. Within 48 hours of its release in the second week of January, eBudget ranked number one on the Apple app store for Portugal.

Banco Davivienda agrees 7 yr ATM outsourcing deal with Diebold

Banco Davivienda, Colombia’s third-largest bank by assets, has agreed a seven-year ATM outsourcing agreement with US-based self-service vendor Diebold. Thedeal includes installation of approximately 1,260 ATMs, remote management and maintenance services for Daviviendas entire ATM fleet. In a statement, Diebold said that approximately 1,260 Opteva ATMs have been deployed under the agreement to date out of the bank’s network of nearly 1,400 ATMs.
