Diamond Bank is the first bank in
Nigeria to launch mobile banking via a website accessible from
mobile phone browsers.

The new feature, available at
www.diamondbank.com/diamond-mobile.html, allows Diamond Bank
customers to access basic banking transactions through their mobile
phone.

Charles Udoh, head of corporate communications
at the bank, called the service “a total new experience”.

The use of device optimisation prevents the
bank’s website from being distorted and will be compatible with any
mobile phone browser.

Udoh added: “The optimisation is such that
even if you browse to the same location via a laptop or PC, you
will get the best version of the site.”

Web applications already available to
customers, such as a branch and ATM locator, are integrated into
the mobile website, with plans for any future applications to also
be converted into mobile form.

‘Click-to-call’, an added feature, allows the

call directly from the user’s browser. A ‘click-to-email’ feature
works similarly but generates an email.
