Citi is set to launch its new banking app, CitiMobileSnapShot, which will allow customers to check balances and view the last 15 transactions without logging into their bank accounts.
As part of limited testing, the bank is initially launching the app for customers in California, with plans to make it available soon across the globe.
The newly designed app is compatible with iPhones, iPod Touch and Android phones.
Citi mobile banking and internet head, Melissa Stevens, was quoted by The Financial Times as saying that they feel this is a great way to bring information to finger tips.
"It’s a secure way because you’re not going to be able to transact," Stevens added.
Keeping in view of the recent security breach at Target store, Citi said it has taken relevant security measures for the app including checks on the time elapsed since full login, ensuring that smartphone and the user enrolled with it are same, and not revealing any personal information of the user.
