Citigroup’s global consumer banking unit has posted a net income of $1.7bn in the fourth quarter of 2014, up 8% as compared to $1.5bn in the year ago period.

The unit’s revenues and operating expenses remained unchanged at $9.4bn and $5.3bn respectively.

The revenues at the bank’s North America consumer banking division were $5.1bn, up 4% compared to $4.9bn in the prior year period. Its net income was $1.1bn, up 33% versus the fourth quarter a year ago.

Overall, the banking posted a net income $350m for the latest quarter versus $2.45bn in the same period of 2013. Total revenues were $17.8bn as against $17.7bn a year earlier.
