Central Massachusetts-based Avidia Bank has partnered with banking and payments technology provider FIS to offer cardless cash withdrawal service at the ATM.

Avidia Mobile’s Cardless Cash feature will enable the bank’s customers to withdraw cash at all Avidia ATMs by scanning a QR code generated on their FIS-powered mobile banking app.

Unlike other mobile cash access models that utilize temporary authorization codes, FIS Cardless Cash at Avidia Bank uses the security within the app authentication process, therefore eliminating card skimming risk and fraud incidents for banks and their customers.

However, FIS said that users will need to sign up with their mobile wallet technology.

Avidia Bank, president and CEO Mark O’Connell said: "As the pace of banking speeds up, our customers want access how and where they choose. Cardless Cash is another solution to meet those needs."

Cardless Cash joins other FIS mobile banking features in the Avidia mobile app, including remote check deposit and person-to-person payments.
