The service supports fee-free transfers across more than 35 countries.

In the US market, Nu is offering the Nu Account, which pays 3.50% APY on balances, with interest calculated and paid each day. Deposits are held at Lead Bank, Nu’s FDIC-insured partner.

The account includes a metal debit card, savings goals with immediate access to funds, and local and international transfers completed within minutes without fees.

Transfers will initially cover Brazil, Mexico and Colombia, with further country additions planned.

Nu said customers will later be able to raise the yield to 4.50% APY on savings goals of up to $10,000 if they pair the account with the Nu Credit Card and complete qualifying transactions.

The Nu Credit Card, issued through a partnership with Mastercard, has no annual fee and provides 1.5% cashback on purchases.

Customers will later be able to increase that rate to 2% if they meet qualifying conditions. The card also comes with Mastercard World Elite benefits and a metal card.

Nu applied for a national bank charter with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency last autumn and received conditional approval in January 2026.

Deposits are converted into digital dollars (USDC) or digital euros (EURC), which are stablecoins linked to the US dollar and the euro. These balances earn daily yields of 3.50% APY and 2.20% APY respectively.

Nu Global is linked to a virtual Mastercard card for spending internationally at exchange rates without markups.

The account allows users to send and receive money across more than 35 countries, with free transfers beginning in Europe and Latin America.

Integrations with Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and the US are planned in the coming months.

Customers can keep and trade a selected group of digital assets, including Bitcoin and Ethereum, alongside regular account balances.

Nu founder and CEO David Vélez said: “This is the next chapter of something we started thirteen years ago in a small house in São Paulo. Since our founding, we have believed that consumer-obsessed digital banking is the future of retail banking globally, and after proving this hypothesis with over 140 million fanatical customers in Latin America, we are excited to start executing our thesis beyond our core region.”
