Australian lender Westpac has entered into a partnership with Australia Post to provide banking services via post offices across the country.

The partnership will enable Westpac customers to access banking services at 3,200 participating Post Offices across the country, including at more than 1,400 regional and rural locations.

The Bank@Post service will allow customers to conduct traditional cash withdrawals, coin, cash and cheque deposits, in-store identity checks for new to Westpac customers and account balance enquiries, complementing the existing branch network.

Westpac Retail & Business Banking group executive Jason Yetton said: "Banks continue to see significant take up of digital and online banking, however, some people prefer to undertake face-to-face transactions and this partnership is another way for them to do that, with a guaranteed level of service from an experienced transactional banking provider in Australia Post."

Westpac Customers will not be charged with extra fees to use the Bank@Post service via Australia Post outlets, which are open Monday to Friday with a few open on Saturday.
