Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) has launched a new mobile application, QIB Aman, which provides additional security for customers while making online and mobile transactions.
To ensure secure transaction, QIB Aman sends a one-time-password (OTP) to customer through SMS for every transaction. The OTP, which is valid for a single log-in or transaction, can also be accessed through the app.
By providing OTP, QIB Aman intends to fight spyware or other key-logging programmes that try to capture customers’ log-in information.
QIB personal banking group general manager, D Anand, said QIB Aman is another example of how the bank is taking all possible security measures to protect its customers’ information.
"The use of OTP gives extra security to online transactions and also offers peace of mind to our customers, who can be assured that even if a spyware programme manages to gain access to their log-in details, their personal banking information remain secured because of the multiple security barriers.
"The app is more convenient to use than SMS to generate the OTP. But both are secure methods of ensuring that only genuine customers can log in when accessing their accounts online," Anand added.
