Polish insurer PZU is eyeing multiple banking acquisitions in Poland, the company’s CEO Andrzej Klesyk said.
"We are looking at all bank-sale offers on the Polish market. A strategy of PZU owning just one bank would not make sense," Klesyk said.
Last week, reports emerged that PZU is vying for a stake in local lender Alior Bank with a aim to build its own banking business.
"We are a local player on the market and so our advantage is that we wouldn’t have a problem securing approval from the [market regulatory office] KNF for acquisition of a bank," Klesyk added.
