Nine Poland-based banks have adopted Visa’s Host Card Emulation (HCE) technology confirming their plans to launch a cloud-based mobile contactless payment services from early next year.

The new HCE-based payment services will be deployed by ING Bank ?l?ski, mBank, Bank Millennium, Raiffeisen Polbank, eurobank, Getin Bank, Bank Polskiej Spó?dzielczo?ci and Bank Smart, which will join Bank Zachodni WBK to aid the roll out.

The service will enable customers to make contactless payments using an NFC-enabled smart phone via pre-installed payment apps.

Visa Europe executive director for mobile Jeremy Nicholds said: "Visa’s cloud-based mobile payments can quickly be made available to a large group of consumers and provide a foundation for the bank to offer a wide range of innovative functionalities in the future.

"Visa’s mobile contactless payment technologies have become an integral part of our Polish members’ mobile banking strategies."
