A week after National Australia Bank’s
(NAB) data processing system crashed, NAB’s PR nightmare shows no
sign of abating.

Problems began when a computer error
halted overnight data processing, ATM and POS
transactions.

While the vast majority of customer
accounts are now up to date, ”some residual issues are continuing
to be worked through as a priority”, NAB said.

NAB said it was in the process of
reversing any fees charged to customers as a result of the computer
crash but already, more than 5,000 NAB customers have lodged claims
for compensation.

”We will proactively undertake this work
over the coming weeks, without the need for customers to contact or
notify us,” the bank said in a statement.
