UK’s cash machine network Link has rolled out a new initiative designed to enable customers to withdraw £5 from cash machines, down from a previous minimum of £10.

Intended for customers with tighter budgets, customers can opt to withdraw cash in multiples of £5 from participating machines.

This option will not be available on all cash machines though. Users can suggest an existing cash machine be upgraded to allow the withdrawal of £5 notes by completing a form on the Link website.

Link will then pass the request onto the relevant cash machine owner, for consideration.

Link CEO, John Howells, said: "Over the last year we have seen great success with our Suggest a Site initiative and, with the expansion of the service, we hope to build on this success.

"By extending the initiative to include £5 notes at ATMs we will be able to work with our members to ensure the cash machine industry is even more responsive to its customers’ needs."
