Kenya’s Dubai Bank has teamed up with telecommunication solutions provider Rapid Communications to launch a mobile banking platform, named M-SASA.
The M-SASA platform will enable clients to check balances, request mini-statements, deposit and withdraw cash, transfer funds to other accounts via mobile.
The service will also allow bank customers to track progress of loan applications as well as pay bills.
Hassan Zubeidi, chairman of Dubai Bank Kenya, said, "It is inevitable for banks to create services that will enable their customers and the unbanked population to access formal banking services with less fuss and time-wasting. M-Sasa aims to achieve just that, other than increasing our service penetration."
Rapid Communications will maintain the Dubai Bank mobile banking solution platform and help enhance the lender’s customer base with different solutions from its Mobile Financial Services Platform.
