Dutch banking group ING has named Ignacio Juliá Vilar as its new chief innovation officer (CInO) and head of retail banking segment.
The head of retail banking segment is a newly created role, which the bank says "has been created to strengthen the overall steering and coordination of retail banking at ING and has been combined with the CInO role to give greater executional certainty to new retail innovation projects."
Vilar, who will assume the new roles in May, currently serves as executive vice-president for retail banking at ING Bank ?l?ski in Poland.
In the role of CInO, Vilar will report to ING CEO Ralph Hamers. As retail banking head, he will report to ING management board banking member and head of challengers and growth markets Aris Boganeris.
The bank’s current CInO Brunon Bartkiewicz will be recruited as CEO of ING Bank ?l?ski, with effect from 1 April 2016.
In addition, ING Bank ?l?ski’s existing CEO Ma?gorzata Ko?akowska will assume the role of wholesale banking global head of network.
