HSBC Holdings has named Andy Maguire as its group chief operating officer and group general manager.

In his new role, due to be effective from December 1, Maguire will replace Sean O’Sullivan, who is retiring after serving for 34 years at HSBC, reports Reuters.

O’Sullivan will assist with the transition and will retire formally in next year March.

Maguire most recently served in Boston Consulting Group as its managing partner of the UK and Ireland, and a member of its global executive committee.
