Australia-based Heritage Bank, in collaboration with Australian menswear label MJ Bale and Visa, has unveiled a new suit that enables customers to execute contactless payments through the flick of a sleeve.
Dubbed as ‘Heritage Power Suit,’ the attire is claimed as the first in a wearable payment technology.
The Queensland-based bank said that the suit features a contactless payment chip and antenna embedded into the sleeve, which allows users to pay for anything by brushing their wrists against Visa payWave terminals.
The embedded contactless technology has been linked to an online Heritage Bank Prepaid account, allowing the wearer to check the balance and reload their suit on-the-go, leveraging the bank’s mobile application.
Twelve prototype suits have been made initially and sent for trial, out of which one has been put up on eBay.
"We’ve already tailored a trial run of suits to test the concept, and have released 11 prototypes to a number of lucky customers around the country," the bank said in a statement.
