India-based HDFC Bank is, reportedly, set to introduce a new missed call banking service, which allows customers to perform banking transactions such as ordering a cheque book or checking account balance through a missed call.
The new service will enable customers to skip frequent visits to their bank and ATMs.
HDFC Bank digital banking head and senior executive vice-president, Nitin Chugh was quoted by media sources as saying that customers having basic mobile phones, without internet access, can also use this service.
The service, which is yet to be launched formally in the market, reported 1.7 million transactions in one month during trial run.
In order to use the service, customers must register their mobile numbers with HDFC bank and give missed call to any of the six toll-free numbers to put a service request.
Chugh said a customer will not have to place any verbal instruction and can disconnect immediately when the call is connected.
