Ohio-based FirstMerit Corporation has launched an external money transfer service for customers via its online and mobile banking applications.
The new service will allow consumer and small business customers to transfer money between FirstMerit deposit accounts and accounts held at other financial institutions.

The bank will allow customers to transfer money to up to five external accounts at other financial institutions.
The external transfer service will be available through the bank’s digital banking and mobile banking apps at Android and iOS platforms.
FirstMerit chief marketing officer Julie Tutkovics said: "The external transfer feature can be managed from your online banking account or through our mobile banking iPhone and Android applications, literally placing control of your banking transfers and transactions at your fingertips."
