UK Facebook users can now send and receive money through Facebook’s Messenger payment feature.
The US tech giant’s Messenger app will enable users to instantly send money from their mobile devices or computers. After linking their Facebook account with their debit or credit cards, users will be able to enjoy this feature with no fees attached.

The app allows users to send up to £2,500 ($3,290) instantly and a maximum of £10,000 every thirty days. Every payment made is authenticated by a PIN to prevent any hacks or fraud.
Facebook have collaborated with all major banks and credit card firms across the UK to launch the platform. The UK is the first country outside of the US to get Messenger payment. Facebook are also working with M, the company’s virtual assistant to recognise when users are talking about payments and suggest the Messenger payment feature to them.
David Marcus, head of Messenger said: “Our research shows the top reasons for sending money include celebrations, social, and festive occasions; it’s those everyday moments we’re trying to make a little easier – we’ve seen that in the US most people use payments in Messenger to send less than $50 at a time.”
