Kenya-based Equatorial Commercial Bank (ECB) has launched a new mobile banking platform, GoMobile, to help its customers perform a wide range of banking transactions through their mobile devices.
Designed to run on Android, iOS, BlackBerry and web-based version of WAP-enabled phones, the mobile platform allows ECB customers to carry out operations such as checking mini and full statements, search ATM and branch locations, request for loans, apply for prepaid card and performing inter-account transfers.

ECB managing director Sammy Itemere said GoMobile application will offer ECB’s customers security, easy access and more control of finances that will later on help the bank assess customers while making monetary transactions.
The lender has also switched its money transfer network provider from Airtel to Safaricom.
Kenya Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology principal secretary Joseph Tiampati said ECB branches are available in 12 counties and the introduction of mobile banking has changed the face of banking in Kenya and increased performance in the banking sector.
