Pakistan-based Meezan Bank has reached an agreement with Diebold for the installation of 50 energy-efficient Diebold 429 automated teller machines (ATMs) across the country.

Under the terms of the agreement, Diebold and its distributor TouchPoint will deploy ATMs, which have been designed to run using solar, battery and grid power to reduce energy consumption and improve availability.

The ATMs consume just 70 watts of power and feature an intelligent-powered management system that counteracts unreliable power availability to enhance ATM uptime for Meezan Bank’s customers.

The ATM switches seamlessly between these power sources to maximize uptime and decrease energy consumption by up to 40% compared with other ATMs.

Diebold 429 ATMs are also equipped with security solutions such as Europay, MasterCard and Visa (EMV) card readers and biometric technology to combat global card fraud and digital security threats.

Meezan Bank deputy chief CEO Ariful Islam said that the Islamic lender is committed to enhance the convenience, availability and sustainability of banking services for our customers.
