French banking group Credit Agricole is set to hire Philippe Brassac as its new CEO to replace its outgoing chief executive Jean-Paul Chifflet.

Brassac currently runs one of the 39 regional mutual banks that together own a majority stake in Crédit Agricole’s listed entity, CASA.

He has already received majority board support, and is expected to secure formal approval by as early as this week.
