France-based Credit Agricole is to offer contactless payments
via mobile phone’s with Gemalto’s wireless Near Field Communication
(NFC) solution.
Credit Agricole said that the partnership is part of its ‘Nice,
Ville NFC’ initiative to roll out NFC payments via mobile phones in
the French city.
The bank’s unit in Nice, Credit Agricole Provence Cote d’Azur,
is using Gemalto to deploy and manage its contactless payments
service in Nice.
In December, Turkish Bank Garanti announced that it had partnered with
Gemalto and MasterCard to roll out NFC-supported mobile
contactless payments in Turkey.
