Crédit Agricole Group has signed a letter of intent to join Paylib, the e-wallet reference solution in France, which will be launched commercially in 2015 for private customers, e-business professionals and companies.

The deal with Paylib, that lets users link a card and make payments at participating retailers’ websites using their email, password and a code generated by a mobile app, will support the creation of a standard e-wallet in France that has 40 million cardholders with over 30,000 e-merchants.

Partnership with MasterPass, MasterCard’s digital payment solution, will allow Paylib to extend its acceptance internationally and offer its users access to the global MasterPass acceptance network enabling them to shop at over 60,000 participating MasterPass merchants in 13 countries across the globe.

The agreement will facilitate MasterCard to accelerate the deployment of MasterPass acceptance in France where both the brands, Paylib and MasterPass, will be jointly promoted to French e-merchants.
