US card issuer,
Discover, has launched its contactless payment system, Discover
Zip. An undisclosed number of Discover cardholders started to
receive contactless cards in the middle of November while others
received contactless stickers to attach to their mobile
phones.
A further cross-section
of Discover cardholders will receive cards and stickers in the New
Year.
Zip transactions will be
accepted at over 100,000 merchant locations at the point-of-sale
including participating outlets of McDonald’s, Burger King,
7-Eleven, and The Home Depot.
“Given how tied
consumers are to their mobile devices, we know they will appreciate
the tremendous value and convenience Discover Zip contactless cards
and stickers provide,” said Mark Scarborough, SVP of cardmember
marketing at Discover.
