The Banking Industry Architecture Network (BIAN) has signed its first Middle Eastern member, the Commercial Bank of Qatar (CBQ).
The Qatari bank, with a focus on commercial banking, retail banking and Islamic banking services, is only one of three members signing up at once, as India’s Institute for Development & Research in Banking Technology (IRDBT) and European insurer Achmea arealso joining BIAN.
IRDBT is a research institute and academic institution set up by the Reserve Bank of India to provide operational service support and consultant services to banks.
Hans Tesselaar, executive director, BIAN said: "It is great to add three more key members to our growing global network.
"This member signing is particularly significant for BIAN, as not only are we adding IDRBT from India and Achmea from Europe, but also our first Middle Eastern member – The Commercial Bank of Qatar."
CBQ says it will now work with BIAN to make its IT systems more effective and build solid foundations for future growth.
