Global banking conglomerate Citi is planning to enable its ThankYou Rewards members to use their ThankYou Points when shopping online with a Rewards Account Number.
Rewards Account Number is a virtual credit card account number connected to Citi credit card and ThankYou Rewards account, where MasterCard and Visa are accepted.

Commenting on the new customer-focused initiative, Citi ThankYou Rewards head Mary Hines Droesch said, "We are constantly focused on delivering new ways our members can use their ThankYou Points for what is most meaningful to them.
"Rewards Account Numbers let you turn that perfect item from your favorite website into your reward."
The customers will have to log into their ThankYou Rewards account to generate a Rewards Account Number for the desired amount commensurate to ThankYou Points available.
The rewards account number can be used for online shopping numerous times and at various merchants before midnight Pacific Time on the day it is generated.

By GlobalDataEven after the expiry of Rewards Account Number, all the unused points remain in the customers’ ThankYou account.
"Whether you’re shopping for holiday gifts this season, or looking for a treat for yourself, Rewards Account Numbers provide the flexibility to use the points you’ve earned to make that online purchase your own reward," Droesch concluded.
