Chase, the retail unit of JPMorgan
Chase, the third-largest US retail bank by branches, is to extend
the opening hours on weekdays or Saturdays (or both) at 2,465 of
its 5,474 WaMu and Chase bank branches around the US.
While the branch opening hour extensions vary
from state to state, California, a key market for the bank, will
feature extended hours at 694 Chase branches, equivalent to nearly
all branches in the state. The branches were rebranded Chase on 30
March and will offer the extended opening times from 1 June.
The importance of California to Chase was
evident from the rebranding process, with the bank taking the
gamble of rebranding before existing WaMu computer systems are
replaced with the Chase platform (see RBI 606).
An additional 904 Chase branches in 14 states
have added or will add hours, most of them adding at least one hour
each Saturday, with more than 300 of them offering additional
weekday hours.
