Spanish retail banking group Caixabank has posted an attributable profit of EUR814m in 2015, a surge of 31.4% compared to EUR620m in the prior year.

Net interest income was EUR4.35bn, up 4.8% compared to EUR4.15bn a year ago.

The lender’s gross income increased 11.3% to EUR7.73bn from EUR6.94bn a year earlier.

Expenses excluding extraordinaries stood at EUR4.06bn in 2015, a 7.7% increase versus EUR3.77bn in 2014.

The bank said that its non-performing loan ratio dropped to 7.9% at December 2015 from 9.7% at December 2014.

Customer funds increased 9.1% year-on-year to EUR296.59bn, while loans increased 4.7% to EUR206.44bn.
