French lender BNP Paribas is trialling Oberthur Technologies’ OT MOTION CODE dynamic security code solution, which replaces the three-digit static code located on the back of the card that is used to confirm online payments.
The lender will issue 1,000 of the cards, which comprise a screen on their back displaying a security code that changes regularly, making them difficult to reuse and in turn helping combat payment card fraud.
BNP Paribas head of payment and cash management Marc Espagnon said: "The trial is fully in line with BNP Paribas’ desire to constantly improve our customer experience.
"By testing this solution with our customers in France, we believe that we will increase their confidence in online payments through increased security."
OT managing director of the financial services institutions Eric Duforest said: "With MOTION CODE, OT is offering a fully integrated solution, from production of the card to installation of authentication servers."
