Barclays has joined forces with Google for Work (GfW) to launch a pilot lending programme targeted at SMEs across the UK.
Barclays in a statement said that the programme aims to offer eligible GfW partners access to low-interest financing, and enable them to fund strategic growth initiatives, hire additional staff, as well as invest in future expansion.
The British banking major is the first UK lender to take part in such a programme.
Commenting on the new programme, Barclays head of global corporate banking Matt Tuck said: "This programme will give SMEs the chance to invest and grow. I am pleased that we are able to partner with Google for Work to provide this innovative financing solution that will help smaller businesses accelerate their expansion.
"We look forward to exploring how we can further work with our Global Corporate clients to support sustainable economic growth in the UK by identifying new ways to help smaller companies prosper and develop."
