Spanish private banking firm Banco Sabadell has selected IBM Services to offer new digital client experiences via hybrid cloud strategy.
The ten-year services deal will help Banco Sabadell increase digitisation capabilities and support the evolution of its business model with IBM cloud capabilities.
The deal is part of the Spanish bank’s plans to transform its IT infrastructure to a modern technology platform that combines its data and applications.
Banco Sabadell will use IBM cloud capabilities to modernise its IT environment and migrate its existing applications to a hybrid cloud environment.
The move will allow the bank meet the cybersecurity standards and regulatory changes.
Apart from IBM Services, Red Hat OpenShift technology will also support the bank in handling a hybrid cloud environment to deploy on-container architecture, new cloud-native applications and modernise the existing ones.

“With this, we are not only continuing to increase our resilience, security and scalability capabilities, but we can also adopt key elements of the new technology paradigm like cloud, the intense use of data and artificial intelligence.”
IBM has also been selected to manage Banco Sabadell affiliate TSB Bank’s technology in the UK.
Banco Sabadell has a network of over 2,400 branches, with more than €220bn in assets and 12 million customers.
