National Australia Bank (NAB) subsidiary UBank has introduced artificial intelligence (AI)-based home loan application assistant.

Dubbed Mia, the short of ‘My Interactive Agent’, the human chatbot is capable of answering most of the customers’ mortgage and home loan queries.

Designed in collaboration with AI software developers FaceMe, Mia is expected to become live by the end of this month.

UBank CEO Lee Hatton said: “By bringing Mia to life, we’re giving customers a whole new way to interact with their online home loan application and completely challenging the perception of a digital bank.”

Benefits of home loan application assistant

The customers can interact with Mia through their laptops and smartphones.

Additionally, the introduction of the AI-based assistant is expected to eliminate the need to send an e-mail or call the banking support staff for home-loan queries.

FaceMe CEO Danny Tomsett said: “She [Mia] offers an emotionally connected experience for customers making an exciting and important life decision.”

The introduction of Mia is UBank’s third AI project. The digital bank has already developed RoboChat, a chatbot to help customers with their home loan applications.

It has also developed RoboBrain which offers information about the UBank team.

Established in 2008, UBank offers home loans and savings products. Last year, the bank rolled-out Free2Spend– a tool designed to simplify budgeting and develop a savings habit.
