Ameris Bancorp, the parent company of Ameris Bank, has acquired 18 Bank of America (BofA) banking offices across southern Georgia and northern Florida.
Ameris Bancorp will take over the operations of BofA branches located in Albany (three locations), Dublin, Fitzgerald, Hinesville, Moultrie, Thomasville, Tifton and Waycross, Ga., as well as banking centers in Blountstown, Cross City, Defuniak Springs, High Springs, Jasper, Lake City (two locations) and Live Oak.
With the acquisition, Ameris Bank will have 104 full service banking locations, in addition to eight mortgage only locations throughout its Southeastern footprint while its total assets will increase to approximately $5.4bn.
Ameris Bancorp president and CEO Edwin Hortman said: "Acquiring these locations increased our customer base in the bank’s existing footprint, and we are excited for the addition of several new markets in Georgia and Florida. This opportunity continues to enhance banking services for valued customers, talented employees and the profile of our company."
