Agricultural Bank of China (ABC) has joined forces with Sopra Banking Software to build the information system for a new bank- Banque Sino-Congolaise pour l’Afrique (BSCA).

The new African lender, established as a joint venture with a Congolese consortium, will deliver a range of retail banking as well as corporate finance services.

ABC, which is the first Chinese bank to set up presence in Central Africa, has selected Sopra Banking Software’s Amplitude solution for the new bank.

In addition, ABC has also bought Sopra Banking Software’s new enlarged global card management offer, a front-to-back solution created in partnership with Sopra Steria.

The new bank is first setting up itself in Congo-Brazzaville prior to developing in other countries across Africa.

ABC senior vice president, deputy head of guangzhou application development center for overseas business, said: "We were impressed by Sopra Banking Software, not only for its position as a market leader in Africa, but also for its capability to commit itself to a rapid implementation."
