The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 6.89% in December 2021 when compared with November 2021. Out of the banking and payments industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 18.49% share in December 2021, recording a decrease of 0.45% over the last three-month average share.

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100.17% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s banking and payments industry in December 2021. 1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 62.23% in December 2021, registering a 24.15% decline over the previous month. 2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 16.19% share, a decrease of 38.06% over the previous month. 3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 10.88%, registering a 22.75% decline from November 2021. 4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 6.75%, up 12.68% over the previous month.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 25.52% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s banking and payments industry during December 2021 over November 2021. Barclays posted 177 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by JPMorgan Chase with 176 jobs and a 2.76% drop. Brewin Dolphin with 67 IT jobs and Citigroup with 44 jobs, recorded a 67.5% growth and a 75.96% decrease, respectively, while Nationwide Building Society recorded a decline of 57.73% with 41 job postings during December 2021.

By GlobalDataJunior Level jobs held a share of 68.47%, down by 26.52% from November 2021. Mid Level positions with an 18.38% share, registered a decline of 31.45% compared with the previous month. In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 8.77% share, up 5.05% over November 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 4.38%, recording a month-on-month decline of 35.8%.
