September 2021 has seen an increase of 0.26% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 13.88% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2021, registering a decrease of 0.5% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 67.43% in September 2021, a 1.99% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 14.02% in September 2021, marking a 4.24% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 9.61% in September 2021, a 5.79% drop from August 2021.

Top five banking and payments companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 14.14% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s banking and payments industry during September 2021 over previous month.

JPMorgan Chase posted 971 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered an increase of 2.32% over the previous month, followed by Citizens Financial Group with 862 jobs and a 15.86% growth. Capital One Financial with 837 IT jobs and Citigroup with 811 jobs, recorded a 97.87% rise and a 28.12% rise, respectively, while Wells Fargo recorded a 24.91% decline with 660 job postings during September 2021.

The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s banking and payments industry IT hiring activity with an 88.88% share in September 2021, a 0.48% increase over August 2021. Canada featured next with a 9.2% share, down 14.25% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 1.92% share, a drop of 44.56% compared with August 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 54.31%, down by 7.78% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 33.12% share, registered a decline of 0.11% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 8.96% share, up 14.74% over August 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 3.61%, recording a month-on-month growth of 29.02%.
