The company’s overall hiring activity increased by 9.62% in December 2021 when compared with November 2021. IT jobs claimed a 35.22% share in the company’s total hiring activity in December 2021, and recorded a 1.23% growth over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers tops Barclays IT hiring in December 2021

Out of the total IT job titles posted by Barclays, Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers emerged as the leading occupation, recording a share of 70.31% in December 2021, and a 25.34% rise over November 2021, while Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a share of 13.71% in December 2021, and registered growth of 7.92%. Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 8.81% in December 2021, a 94.44% rise from November 2021.

Asia-Pacific drives IT hiring at Barclays

Asia-Pacific emerged as the leading region in the global banking and payments IT hiring activity in December 2021 with a 70.31% share, which marked a 48.67% rise over the previous month. Europe stood next with 22.64%, registering a 1.64% month-on-month decline. North America was the third leading region with a 7.04% share and a 14.29% rise over November 2021. India commanded a leading presence in the region’s banking and payments industry IT hiring activity with a 70.19% share in December 2021, a 49.6% growth over November 2021. The UK featured next with a 22.26% share, flat growth over the previous month. US recorded a 7.04% share, an increase of 14.29% compared with November 2021.

Junior Level jobs held a share of 74.21%, up by 28.82% from November 2021. Mid Level positions with a 21.89% share, a growth of 33.85% compared with the previous month. In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 2.64% share, up 16.67% over November 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.26%, recording a month-on-month increase of 150%.
