The value marked an increase of 5979.2% over the previous month and a rise of 285.8% when compared with the last 12-month average of $5.83bn.

The US held a 79.4% share of the global financial services industry M&A deal value that totalled $28.34bn in December 2020.

In terms of deal activity, the US recorded 117 deals during December 2020, marking an increase of 46.3% over the previous month and a rise of 58.1% over the 12-month average.

The combined value of the top five financial services M&A deals stood at $21.47bn, against the overall value of $22.49bn recorded for the month.

2) The $6bn merger of TCF Financial and Huntington Bancshares by

4) The $1.7bn acquisition of Waddell & Reed Financial by Macquarie Asset Management Holding

5) The merger of Cognical and FinServ Acquisition for $833m.
